MassInnovation

Monarch on the Merrimack

In addition to painstakingly preserving historical details, developer Robert Ansin is equipping 600 owner-occupied units with geothermal heating and cooling. Promising to reduce heating and cooling costs by up to 30 percent, it is the largest residential development in the country with near-carbon-free emissions utilizing the constant temperature of the earth for space heating.

Green Technology and
Sustainable Development

Innovative "green" developer MassInnovation is building Monarch on the Merrimack in Lawrence, Massachusetts, converting a massive, historic 19th-Century textile mill into one of the largest sustainable, eco-friendly condominium complexes in the country.

From Sept. 2006 through March 2007, Aquarius Advisers developed positioning and conducted a media outreach campaign focusing on Monarch's unique "green" attributes. The result was coverage not only in local publications boosting interest from buyers but also national coverage positioning MassInnovation at the forefront of sustainable development.
